Pandora. Fantasy world, escape, the fruits of a beautiful imagination. Whatever Pandora strikes you as, it probably affected you the same way it did me. It took your breath away. Whether it was a regular theater screen or a 3D masterpiece, Pandora lay spread before you, all its exotic and dangerous beauty yours to behold. During those two and a half hours, you found yourself with Jake Sully, beholding a world labeled by the humans as 'savage', a world many like you and I couldn't help but be captivated by. But the sad thing was, that despite all its magic, the spell had to break. Once the story was told, Jake and the Na'vi faded from view, leaving some feeling satisfied, others, excited. And some, depressed. I can only speak for myself, and that is why I am going to tell you about my experience with Avatar. I don't pretend to know how others felt, but I hope that I can help others like me, who left the theater feeling empty, needing something more. There is a reason that hole in my gut existed. There is a reason others have found that leaving the computer created world was more painful than with other movies and games. A reason for seemingly irrational longing. A reason I want to share with you.
For in this hope we
were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what
he already has? But if
we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Romans 8:24-25
